A valid passport is required to apply (valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country). At the border, an immigration officer may also require proof of a confirmed return or onward ticket, a hotel reservation, and sufficient funds for your stay. Note: Although it was previously possible to obtain a visa upon arrival at Colombo airport (Visa on Arrival), it is highly recommended to apply for the visa in advance online to avoid the queues and potential complications. The visa granted upon arrival is usually more expensive (around $60 USD, compared to $50 USD for the online option).
